About PDF viewer
Most PDF viewers greet you with rows of icons, panels and banners before you see a single line of the document. Nopload’s viewer does the opposite: the pages fill the screen, and the few controls there are fade away as soon as you start reading, coming back with a tap, a scroll up or a move of the mouse. Pages are drawn sharp at whatever size you read them, so zooming in on a table or a signature stays crisp, and their text can be selected and copied. Reading mode is made for phones: instead of pinching and scrolling sideways across a page designed for A4 paper, the text is laid out again to fit your screen, in a comfortable size you choose. Night mode darkens the pages themselves, not just the frame around them, so a white page doesn’t glare at you in a dark room. Search finds every match and takes you through them one by one, the contents list jumps to any chapter the file defines, and the page strip shows every page at a glance. When you open the same file again, the viewer goes back to the page where you stopped. And when reading turns into doing, one tap hands the file to another tool, such as Edit, Sign, Compress or Read aloud, without choosing it again.
Why your files stay private
What you read says a lot about you: bank statements, medical results, contracts, exam papers. The viewer draws every page on your device and keeps your place in this browser only; the PDF is never uploaded, and it opens offline too.
PDF viewer: common questions
- What is reading mode?
- Reading mode takes the text of the PDF in reading order, with its headings, paragraphs and lists, and lays it out again to fit your screen, like an article. It’s the easy way to read a document made for paper on a phone. Pictures and the original layout are left out, so switch it off to see the page as designed.
- Does night mode change my file?
- No. Night mode only changes how the pages are shown on your screen, darkening the paper and lightening the text. The file itself, and anything you download or share from it, is unchanged.
- Can I set it as the app that opens my PDFs?
- On a computer, yes: install Nopload from your browser (the install button in the address bar), and it appears under Open with for PDF files, opening them straight in the viewer. On Android, Chrome doesn’t list installed web apps under Open with, so use Share and choose Nopload instead.
- Does it remember where I stopped?
- Yes. The page you were on is kept on this device for each file, by its name and size, and the viewer returns to it the next time you open that file. Nothing about the file is sent anywhere, and clearing your browser’s site data forgets it.
- Can it open password-protected or scanned PDFs?
- A PDF that needs a password to open has to be unlocked first with Unlock PDF. A scan opens and reads like any other PDF, but it is a picture of text: search, copying and reading mode need the text layer that OCR PDF adds.
