Security
How your files and data are handled.
Processing on your device
Most tools run as code in your browser tab. The file is read from your disk into memory, processed and saved back to you. It never crosses the network.
Passwords for PDFs
Passwords you type into Protect or Unlock stay in your browser and are never saved, including in workflows.
Check it yourself
- Every page tells your browser to refuse connections to other sites, with a Content-Security-Policy you can read in the page's response headers. Your browser enforces it, not our code.
- Open your browser's developer tools, choose Network, and run a tool marked “Runs on your device”. No request carries your file, and none goes to another site.
- Or open a tool, disconnect from the internet or switch on airplane mode, and run it. On-device tools work the same without a connection.
- The chip on each tool page counts, live, the bytes the page has uploaded, the requests it made to other sites and the requests your browser blocked. The numbers come from your browser's own records of the page's traffic.
