About Word to PDF
Word to PDF turns a document into a PDF that looks the same on every device and can't be changed by accident. Page size and margins, headers and footers, page numbers, tables, images and columns carry across, so the PDF reads like the printed document. It handles modern DOCX files as well as older DOC, OpenDocument and RTF files.
Why your files stay private
On Nopload's free site, both conversion methods run inside your browser: LibreOffice as WebAssembly, or the browser's own print engine. Your document is never uploaded, which is why drafts, CVs and contracts can be converted without handing them to a third party.
Word to PDF: common questions
- What is the difference between High and Standard fidelity?
- High runs LibreOffice, a full office suite, inside your browser and writes the PDF itself, closest to the original layout. Standard lays the document out as a web page and your browser prints it to PDF, which is quicker and lighter.
- Why does High fidelity download 79 MB?
- That is LibreOffice compiled to run in a browser. It downloads once, after you agree, and then stays on your device, so later conversions start quickly and work without a connection.
- Can I convert old .doc files on my phone?
- Older formats like DOC, ODT and RTF need LibreOffice, which needs a computer with enough memory and a browser that can run it. On phones and in Safari, save the document as DOCX first, then convert it.
- Will my fonts look the same?
- Fonts embedded in the document are used. A font that isn't embedded or available is replaced with a similar one, so it's worth checking the PDF when a document relies on an unusual typeface.
- Can I convert several documents at once?
- Yes. Add several files and each becomes its own PDF. The whole batch uses the same fidelity setting.
