About PDF to Word

PDF to Word rebuilds a PDF as a real DOCX document instead of a page of floating text boxes. It works out the reading order across columns, turns tables into Word tables, keeps fonts, sizes, colours and links, places pictures where they were, and moves repeating headers and footers into Word's own header and footer with live page numbers.

Why your files stay private

Rebuilding a document normally means uploading it to a conversion server. Here the layout analysis and the DOCX writer run inside your browser, so the PDF and the Word file it becomes never leave your device.

PDF to Word: common questions

Which layout should I choose?
Editable text is for changing the wording, and keeps text flowing so it reflows as you type. Exact look keeps every page identical but as pictures, so its text can't be edited.
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Close, but not always identical: a PDF records positions, while Word flows text. Simple reports and letters convert very closely; complex magazine layouts may need small fixes.
Are tables converted to real tables?
Yes. Tables drawn with lines, and tables laid out in aligned columns, become Word tables with their rows and cells, so you can edit them normally.
What happens to page numbers and headers?
Lines repeated on every page are moved into the document's header and footer, and page numbers become fields that update as the document changes length.
Can I convert a PDF that needs a password to open?
Unlock it first with Unlock PDF, using the password you already have, then convert the unlocked copy.
