About PDF to images
PDF to images works in two ways. It can render each page as a picture, for slides in a presentation, a preview on a website or posting a page to social media. Or it can pull out the photos and graphics stored inside the PDF, at the quality they were saved with, without the rest of the page around them.
Why your files stay private
Pages are drawn by a PDF renderer running inside your browser and encoded into images on your device. Neither the PDF nor the images are uploaded, so you can convert confidential pages without them leaving your computer or phone.
PDF to images: common questions
- JPG or PNG: which should I choose?
- JPG makes smaller files and suits pages with photos. PNG is lossless, so it keeps text and line art perfectly crisp, at a larger file size.
- Which resolution do I need?
- 72 DPI is enough for thumbnails, 150 DPI for viewing on screen and 300 DPI for printing or zooming in on fine detail.
- Are extracted images the original quality?
- Yes. JPEG images are saved byte for byte as they are stored in the PDF; other kinds are saved as PNG without loss.
- Why were no images found?
- Some PDFs draw their graphics as vector shapes rather than storing pictures. Use “Each page as an image” to capture those instead.
- Can I convert several PDFs at once?
- Yes. Every page of every file you add becomes an image, and you can download them all together as a ZIP.
