About PDF to Excel

PDF to Excel finds the tables in a PDF and writes them into an XLSX workbook you can sort, filter and calculate with. It reads tables drawn with ruling lines as well as ones laid out in aligned columns, keeps merged cells and bold headers, and stores amounts and percentages as numbers rather than text, so formulas work straight away.

Why your files stay private

Bank statements and invoices are among the most common PDFs turned into spreadsheets, and among the most private. The table detection and the XLSX writer run inside your browser, so those figures are never uploaded.

PDF to Excel: common questions

Does it work with tables that have no lines?
Yes. Columns are found from the gaps that run through the text from top to bottom, so tables separated only by spacing are split into cells too.
Are numbers stored as numbers?
Yes. Values that read as numbers become numeric cells, and percentages keep a percentage format, so you can sum and chart them without cleaning up.
What happens to the text around tables?
It is kept in rows above and below the tables, in reading order, so titles and notes stay next to the figures they describe.
Which option is best for a long statement?
Choose one sheet for the whole document. All pages then go into a single sheet, one after another, ready for sorting and totals.
Which apps can open the result?
The XLSX file opens in Microsoft Excel, Apple Numbers, Google Sheets and LibreOffice Calc, among others.
